Mary Allen’s never been a guy magnet. Most men are put off by her confidence in the workplace. Not Sebastian. He kindles a passion she thought was long dead. After one scene, she’s ready to jump back into the lifestyle. But can a workplace romance really work?

Sebastian Paul came back to the Underground after time away to figure out what he wanted from his life. He can’t escape the desire or the need for the scene, but he hasn’t found his perfect sub—until he spots Mary. He never expected to see her at the club. She works with him, and although she oozes confidence, he notes her desire to submit. He wants Mary as his girl. No question. But will she want him in return?

When passion ignites, love will find a way.

“If by it, you mean the fumbling, confusing start of something with Seb, then yes. Don’t sell yourself short. Give him a chance, too. He’s not like the other guys,” Andi said.

“You sound like a motivational poster.”

“Sorry.” Andi giggled. “Just trying to help.”

“You are.” She sighed. “I need to go. I’m working a six-to-two tomorrow and need to get some sleep.” She’d never be able to settle down, but still.

“Blech. That’s too early.” Andi stood. She left the room with Mary. “Good luck.”

“Thanks.” She hugged Andi. “I know you’re not a morning person, but you’re awesome. I’m going to lean on you.”

“I expect it.” Andi waved. “See you.”

Mary waved and left. She headed to her car. Her brain buzzed from her session with Sebastian and the pep talk from Andi. She liked being on display, and Sebastian knew how to make her feel alive while giving her release. Many other Doms had given her orgasms and played to her needs, but they hadn’t scratched the exact itch within her.

She drove home and sang along with the radio. Once at her apartment, she unpacked her bag, downed a glass of water, then brushed her teeth. She noticed her reflection in the mirror. She gasped. Damn. Her hair was a mess and her makeup smudged. She hadn’t checked her look before she played with Sebastian. He probably thought she didn’t care about her appearance.

Oh well. She didn’t have time to think about her ridiculous hair and makeup. She’d probably mussed herself during her shower. That had to be the case.

She finished brushing her teeth, then washed her face before falling into bed. She needed sleep or she’d be crap at work.

Mary prided herself at being at the top of her game at the air traffic control center. Lives depended on her doing her job. To do the best she could, she needed to settle down.

Within a few minutes and white noise playing in the background, she managed to fall asleep. For the first time in a long while, she didn’t dream and managed to relax.

Prophecy of the Guardian

Not darkness, not light, perhaps something in between, and is claimed by the darkness… as theirs. Though being saved by the light, that which is saved must in turn save the world.

One man’s choice to love a son… a son that is not really his. A legacy, a Nasharin legacy, is truly dying out. It is the father’s hope that the legacy will live on in this baby. Though the baby does not really belong to him, he believes. As the baby grows into a young man, father and son will stand together in battle. The father will teach and the son will experience lessons that test his wills. Strength, maybe even his level of light against his level of darkness, is tested. They are not on the side of the dark and they are not on the side of the light. Therefore, they belong to neither and they are feared by all. It is that which is not understood completely that is feared the very most.

This choice, a choice to save a baby and to love that child will one day be questioned. Many will be massacred with the very survival of that one, the one that is deemed the guardian. The one to save the world.

++++++++++++++++

I absolutely loved reading this series. When I first read Prophecy of the Guardian it was a five book epic fantasy series. At that time I wrote reviews for each book individually. It is now available on Amazon as a trilogy, three books in one. Prophecy of the Guardian/The Coming of the Light/Piercing the Darkness set. It is presented as one book so I am going to narrow my review to a solid review for the entire series.

This epic fantasy is action packed, all the way through. Definitely a power house for fantasy lovers. It has plenty of dark magic, tons of bloody battles, and even some seductive tones.

The chosen one faces his destiny with tribulations that at times favor Homer’s Odyssey and Iliad. While reading I also felt it resembled Lord of the Rings especially due to its epic length. I can not stress enough how well detailed the story and characters are. Nothing is ever lost in the pages. The timeline is incredible and every aspect continues to build. Wonderful and fascinating!

It is involving, meeting the chosen one as a baby, watching him grow as a young boy into an adolescent, learning to fight, learning who he is, and learning to love. There are many secrets that unfold and characters to meet along the way. From witches to elves, to gnomes and trolls there is sorcery and magic around every turn. The creatures met along the way are descriptively colorful and incredibly likable. Even the darker ones! Well, there are some gross ones too as I think of it. You’ll see!

As a side note, J.W. Baccaro does not hold back in his details of war and how brutal the effects are on the people and the land. He sets his world in a beautiful background, so exquisite and then details the destruction during bloodshed and battle.

I’m usually not into a lot of battle stuff. This series however carried so much with it, more than just a battle book. The action was absolutely a big part of the story and without it, the fantasy would not be the epic level that it is, of course! But, there is also the magical side, the mythical and mysterious wonderment. The creatures are so desirable and they stayed with me as I read the story. The colors of the world are so vivid. And actually the magical aspects are my favorite parts of all.

How it made me feel.

The first time I read the first book of this series was back in 2011. I had just started reviewing. A paperback copy came to me in the mail. It was absolutely thrilling to get that package. At the time I had been suffering from depression and my father had died and I was still grieving. I needed something to shift my thoughts. Reading was what I needed. I could not have picked a better book to read. It was fun, accelerating, thrilling and so freaking magical. I loved it and I loved how it lifted me out of my low place. I had drifted into the fantasy of the book and out of my sorrow. And, for me that rocks! I believe that is what makes a book wonderful when it takes you away from reality and you can not stop reading the pages.

Since first reading his series,  Jason and I have chatted a little back and forth. He has written guest posts and interviews with me. He is a wonderful human being with a big heart. I am certainly a fan of the man and he is on my favorite authors list. I hope he writes a lot more fantasy novels. Currently, I’m reading The Tree of Damnation and part of me wants to say, it is even better than the first!

This is a great epic fantasy series and I highly recommend this to everyone especially those that love battles, magic and all that goes into beautifully descriptive fantasy worlds. Prophecy of the Guardian is for mature reading and Tree of Damnation is adult reading.

He knows that in order to survive, he must abandon his morals and his conscience and become like those he is surrounded by. But when he meets Thais, morals and conscience win out over conformity, and he risks his rank and his life to help her.
